“As one of their representatives explained the Green Living Show, “Assume everything is going to cost more.”

In 2018, global food ordering company, Just Eat dubbed veganism as the top food trend of 2018. Since then, both local and global businesses have come to light for their awe-inspiring vegan-branded food.

The Woman Behind It All

Nona, founded by Kailey Gilchrist, is a vegan corporation that produces a variety of vegan sauces. They aim to promote their love of vegan food, which allows others to become more open-minded. The vegan sauces have no trace of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). In particular, the cream sauces use selective ingredients that ensure for more affordable prices that attract consumers. This follows their basis of the business. As one of their representatives explained in the 2018 Green Living Show, “Assume everything is going to cost more.”

Travelling Back In Time

In honour of her late mother, Kailey Gilchrist started Nona in 2011. She wanted to use her beloved mother’s recipes in order to re-create and share her vegan sauces. As well, she wanted to promote the idea of veganism. As described by The Vegan Society, veganism means “To seek an end to the use of animals by man for food, commodities, work, hunting, vivisection, and by all other uses involving exploitation of animal life by man”. If this continues in this nature, The Vegan Society stated that about 8.1 million premature deaths could be avoided each year.

A More Hopeful Future

While Nona is currently promoting their products locally, its goal is to expand into the European retail market. They are in the midst of a deal involving Costcos in France and a German supermarket known as Lidl. As well as conducting this, they’ve founded a vegan entrepreneurship group with over 100 members. It is still expected to develop and flourish.

The Bottom Line

As society continues to pursue the idea of becoming vegan, up-and-coming businesses like Nona will prosper. From popularizing veganism with their organic cooking to attracting consumers with their low prices, Nona is the business to watch for. As founder and sauce boss, Kailey Gilchrist once said, “Stay saucy”.
